Jalila Tlamssi won the Award for Best Actress Tuesday in the Mediterranean Film Festival in Alexandria for her role in Androman, Blood and Coal by Moroccan director Azlarab Alaoui.
Androman is considered by the jury of the festival among the best films produced by Moroccan cinema in recent years.
The film Androman, Blood and Coal has already brought in four awards at the National Film Festival of Tangier in 2012, namely the Critics Award, award for best music, award for best female role and award for the best male role, thus being the only film to collect four awards.
The film had also won two awards at the 7th edition of the International Film Festival of Muscat, which took place from March 24 to 31 in the Omani capital.
Tlamssi had to shave her hair to meet the requirements of the role, a rare act in the Moroccan and the Arab cinema.
Androman is about a modest, rural family making a living through charcoal trade in a remote and isolated part in the Middle Atlas called ?Boulemane?. Not having a son, the father, Oshn, whose name means wolf in Tamazigh, forced his mute daughter, Androman, to live as a boy in order to preserve his family?s land, which may go with the wind in the absence of a male heir in the family.
The Admin of facebook fan page ?Film Androman de Sang et de Charbon? announced that Androman, Blood and Coal will be displayed in Moroccan movie theaters beginning on October 3, 2012.
