This position is primarily responsible for implementing AMA Insurance?s internal and external communication strategies with a focus on online and social media.


Major Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

(Include but are not limited to)

  • Manages online content including internal and external website content and updates, social media and analytics on behalf of AMA Insurance.
  • Helps improve the employee and customer experience by assisting with the development of communication and engagement strategies and plans with a focus on online strategies and social media website development.
  • Stays current with social media trends and incorporate them into the strategy to improve the user experience.
  • Monitors and measures results of the AMA Insurance social media strategy.
  • Researches and writes engaging web copy for the AMA social media websites in a real time environment that can stimulate user interaction, discussion and engagement.
  • Consults business area experts to prepare timely responses to comments/inquiries received through social media.
  • Works with other communications and marketing staff to integrate online media with existing communications and marketing strategies and tools.
  • As needed, assists with the development of communication materials such as presentations, articles and online content to support communications plans and programs.
  • As required, coordinates projects and/or leads small projects within established timeframes.
  • As a member of the team, assists Marketing Communications with internal and external marketing/communications plans, projects, programs or issues as required.

Background (Education/Licenses/Work Experience):

  • Post Secondary degree, certificate or diploma in Communications, ?Public Relations and/or related field
  • Minimum 3 years communications experience

Skills & Proficiency:

  • Superior writing and editing skills; proficient in Canadian Press style
  • Excellent understanding of social media sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and blogs is essential
  • Knowledge of mobile or social media application usability is an asset.
  • Web publishing skills, including a strong understanding of various digital media platforms/technologies, as well as newsletter and content management skills
  • Knowledge of overall web design, ?including basic html, usability, user-centred design principles, industry standards, information architecture and navigation
  • Strong computer and mobile internet skills
  • Knowledge of trends in social media and mass communications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using photo and video editing software
  • Demonstrated ability to lean new software programs and applications
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Insurance industry knowledge an asset
