QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
  • Minimum two years of experience developing and implementing intramural sports programs
  • Minimum two years of experience supervising student employees
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
  • College and/or high school sports officiating experience
  • Experience training, evaluating, and developing sports officials
  • Instructor certification in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Intramural Sports Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of University Recreation in all aspects of the position responsibilities. Primary responsibilities include implementing, promoting, directing and supervising the daily operations of the Intramural Sports program as well as scheduling and supervising the University Recreation Office & Multi-Purpose Room. Additionally, this position serves as a member of the University Recreation Department and as such participates in all departmental functions.

80%: Intramural Sports

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive Intramural Sports program that includes team sports, weekend tournaments, individual/dual sports, and special events
  • Supervise approximately 38 student employees (officials, supervisors, and a lead student manager)
  • Coordinate training and evaluation programs for Intramural Sports officials
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive environment, promote excellent sportsmanship, and conduct participant ejection/disciplinary hearings as necessary
  • Assist in the management of the Intramural Sports budget
  • Maintain all intramural-related pages of the University Recreation website
  • Advise the Urec Student Leadership Board, an advisory, programming and recognition board made up of student leaders from all areas of University Recreation
  • Plan and implement the Housing League, a collaborative program with Residence Life
  • Identify teams and officials for participation in extramural tournaments, and facilitate participation opportunities for such events
  • Continuously assess rules, policies and processes to improve overall program quality
20%: University Recreation Office & Multi-Purpose Room
  • Manage the University Recreation Office, Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), and racquetball courts
  • Supervise approximately 12 student desk attendants and a lead student manager
  • Maintain daily schedules in the MPR and ensure that the pre-determined facility prioritization blocks are adhered to (open/programmed recreation, athletic team practices, and physical education classes)
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment throughout the facility
  • Oversee all cash management processes for the University Recreation Office
