Planning A Holiday? Why Two Weeks Is Much Better Than One

No matter where youre heading in the world, theres no denying that two week holidays are more beneficial than one.

Of course, different countries and destinations have their unique charm; Sharm is renowned for excellent watersports and hotels, Mexico is all about the beaches and scenery, Tunisia offers history and breath-taking coastline, while in Dubai theres shopping, sunshine and plenty of family-focused activities.

Not only will you be able to get a better feel for a destination and indulge in a greater variety of activities in two weeks, research has shown that it takes a good few days to wind down when you reach your destination having left the daily grind behind. So do your health favour and use up a decent proportion of that holiday allowance!

Two weeks neednt be a budget breaker either; in fact if you are flexible with dates, you may find its actually less expensive to stay for longer. But back to those destinations, and the reasons why we think youll want to holiday for two weeks rather than one:

Water babies will love Sharms great liquid asset the ocean. So when youre not lounging on the 2km sandy beach, why not try your hand at parasailing or water skiing? Diving and snorkeling are also excellent and offer the perfect opportunity to explore the colourful coral reefs.

Along with some stunning beaches, Mexico is home to nearly 70 national parks, with breathtaking landscapes and scenery that is well worth checking out when youre visiting this fascinating country. Two notable parks include Desierto de los Leones National Park, Mexico City, which is excellent for camping, mountain biking and hiking, and Palenque National Park, Chiapas, home to an ancient city ruin, heralding from the Maya empire.

With a mix of ethnicities including French and Arabs, Tunisia is unsurprisingly rich in history, with some well-preserved Roman ruins. The Medinas (old-walled cities) of Tunis, Kairouan and Sfax are hugely popular and if you like a bargain youll enjoy exploring the labyrinth of alleys overflowing with traditional shops. The landscape is littered with historical monuments; a two week holiday will give you time to visit a number of the most notable ones, however our pick has to be El-Jem, the worlds best preserved Roman amphitheatre.

Dubai is a shopaholics dream, and whatever you want to spend your hard earned cash on, youll find it here. Take refuge from the heat in one of the many shopping malls - from designer to high street and haute couture, the Dubai Mall features the 440,000 square foot Fashion Avenue, renowned for housing the largest collection of fashion brands under one roof.
