UPDATE: Ben Wheeler man arrested for allegedly killing wife, shooting her boyfriend

A Ben Wheeler man was arrested for capital murder after allegedly shooting his wife and her boyfriend in Van Zandt County.

Van Zandt County Sheriff Lindsey Ray said Larry Maples, of Ben Wheeler, called the sheriff's office about 6 a.m. saying he shot his wife and her boyfriend in a home in the 2600 block of Farm-to-Market Road 16, south of Van. Ray said Maples went to the home of 47-year-old Moses Clemente, of Canton, and allegedly had a brief altercation then shot Clemente and Maples' wife Heather Maples, 34, of Ben Wheeler.Clemente was taken to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital -- Tyler with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, Ray said. Officials at the hospital declined to report on his condition.

Mrs. Maples was pronounced dead at the scene.

Larry Maples was arrested and charged with capital murder. He currently is awaiting arraignment, Ray said.

The Texas Rangers were on the scene assisting Van Zandt County authorities with the crime scene.
