Jarrett tells Scarborough to zip it (Politico)

Senior White House Adviser Valerie Jarrett chided MSNBC host Joe Scarborough Tuesday for his treatment of co-host Mika Brzezinski, saying that he should apologize for being ?harsh? and calling her ?partisan.?

Earlier on the show, Scarborough lectured Brzezinski for being partisan when she tried to defend the White House against his argument that they had failed on education and health care.

?You?re a partisan. Stop acting like a partisan for a second,? Scarborough said on ?Morning Joe.?

?Don?t characterize the White House as a bunch of kids who don?t know what they?re doing, when they have done a number of very productive things, and by the way, did keep this country from going over the brink,? responded Brzezinski.

?You?re looking at this as a partisan,? replied Scarborough.

When Jarrett appeared on a later segment over an hour later, she called Scarborough out.

Brzezinski led into Jarrett?s segment by saying they would discuss ?how Republicans have got in the way of progress,? leading Scarborough to emit a sharp laugh.

?Joe, don?t think I didn?t hear you earlier in the show when you were calling Mika ?partisan?. That?s quite harsh, coming from you, don?t you think? You do owe her an apology for that?? said Jarrett.

?Wow,? remarked Brzezinski. ?Take note.?

?That?s what I?m saying, we shouldn?t be partisan. We should come together, and be more like me, all of us,? joked Scarborough.

But even while lecturing Scarborough on partisanship, Jarrett also called out Republicans for putting the jobs of firefighters, teachers and first responders at risk.

?I think it?s very clear that the Republicans voted against the American Jobs Act each time when the whole act was before Congress,? said Jarrett. ?So yes, all across the country right now, we have teachers, firefighters, first responders, whose jobs are at risk because we don?t have that Act in place. So it did a great deal of damage.?
